You can play missions on three different difficulty levels and set a personal record for each difficulty level. The higher the difficulty level you choose, the more suspects there are and the bigger the field. The reward for solving the mission also depends on the difficulty level. When you play a mission, you are presented with a number of suspects. It's your job to find out who the criminal is by eliminating those who are innocent. You do this by searching for clues. You have a limited number of searches, so use them wisely.
There are three types of clues:
For example, if you find evidence that a suspect is impatient, and later an alibi that says the criminal is NOT impatient, you can exclude the suspect. Tap on the suspect you want to exclude. If you have eliminated all but one suspect, you know who the criminal is. Then press the hatch to complete the mission. If you can't eliminate all suspects, you have to guess. The game will then tell you if you have guessed correctly.
In your notebook you will find an overview of all the clues you have found. You can also use the buttons in the notebook to exclude and accuse the suspects.
In the game there are eight different officers. From the start, you only have access to Mathias. They each have different abilities:

The different cops can also be upgraded to level 5. This will make them significantly better. For example, Mathias will have 25% more searches at level 5, making it easier for you to reach higher and more difficult rounds.
When you have unlocked two officers, you can also choose to take a partner on a mission. This gives you access to both officers' special abilities. It costs 200 donuts to hire a partner.
To unlock more officers and to upgrade them, you will need donuts. You earn donuts by completing missions. A normal mission earns 5 donuts, an advanced mission earns 20 and expert missions earn 40 donuts. In addition, you get extra donuts according to how many searches you have left. If you lose a mission, you lose a corresponding number of donuts.
You can also buy donuts in the game shop, find up to 30 donuts and get donuts to earn in-game awards.
The game is divided into districts, each offering different challenges.
Green District: You start in the Green District where the crime album is updated monthly.
Red District: If you play a lot, you can choose to unlock the Red District where you can collect stars by filling the crime album over and over again.
Every month you get a bronze, silver or gold award depending on how many criminals from the crime album you have caught. The more criminals you catch, the more donuts you are rewarded with. A full crime album is rewarded with 1,000 donuts.
You also get awards for missions completed with each officer. Completing 25 missions earns you 100 donuts, 100 missions earns you 250 donuts, 500 missions earns you 1,000 donuts, 1,000 missions earns you 10,000 donuts, 5,000 missions earns you 25,000 donuts and finally 50,000 donuts for 10,000 missions with the same officer.
If you play in the red district, you can earn awards by collecting 1, 5, 10, 25, 100 and 500 stars. This is rewarded with 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 donuts respectively.
Update: There are now awards for each officer from 15,000 up to 50,000 completed missions in increments of 5,000, and awards for stars collected from 1,000 to 5,000 in increments of 1,000.
