Mahjong Puzzle is a fun variant of the popular Mahjong game. The game is rich in levels, challenges and beautiful scenery set in several seasons. You can compete with yourself and other players to set highscores.
Rules
Unlike Mahjong, the tiles in Mahjong Puzzle only need to have one side free before they can be removed. On the other hand, they must be connected with a line that has a maximum of two angles. The illustration below shows the principle:
Pairs of identical tiles can be removed by connecting them with a line containing a maximum of two angles. However, if there are three or more angles in the line, they cannot be removed yet. Instead, you have to remove some of the other tiles first.
You could also say that the tiles must be connected by a maximum of three continuous lines - this may be an easier rule to remember for some.
A level is won when all tiles are removed. It is lost if there are no more possible moves. At the top you can see how many possible moves you have left - always make sure to remove the tiles that open up new possibilities first.
Game types
In Mahjong Puzzle there are three different game types, each with their own unique game experience.
- Round game
A Round game gives you a random level on one of three difficulty levels. You can also choose to have both the level and difficulty level randomized. Your goal is to complete as many rounds as possible and with the highest combo. - Choose level
Here, as the name suggests, you can choose both level and difficulty level. You can aim to complete all levels and you can try to improve your highscore in a specific level. - Challenges
A challenge consists of a collection of levels that must be completed within a certain time. The game contains many different challenges where you can achieve gold, silver and bronze and aim to improve your time to achieve a highscore.
Padlocks
To start with, you don't have access to the whole game. Some parts are locked with a padlock that you need to unlock. Exactly what you need to do to unlock them is written in the game.
Tile sets
If you click on "menu" and open the game settings, you can switch to one of the other tile sets. You may find that you do better by using traditional Mahjong tiles instead, for example.
Combo
If you find matching tiles within five seconds of each other, your combo will increase. When you are no longer fast enough, your combo is exchanged for points, which are equal to the number of tokens you win when completing a level. When playing rounds or challenges, the combo counts between levels, but it only counts towards the game type's highscore, not the levels.
Stones and keys
During the game, you can collect stones and keys. The keys unlock a bonus spin, while you can use the stones in a special extra level where you can win many tokens.
Menus
In the game's top menu bar, you can see the following from left to right: Which level you are playing, how much time you have spent, how many moves are left, the current round, your highest combo, how many points you have.
The top right menu can be opened by clicking on it. Here you can choose to exit the game and you can change the game settings. It is possible to turn off hints so that none of the tiles flash green if you get stuck. Interrupted levels mean that you only see the result of a completed level when you finish a challenge or round game so you can continue without pausing.
